First Impressions of MAC Make-up Art Cosmetics collection

Dagnabbit! I would to start my laundry and go running this afternoon, but one that has not happened? No, of course not. My internal MAC Monster demanded I enter her swatches and photos instead.

And who can blame her? - Four Stinky laundry loads versus MAC’s upcoming Make-up Art Cosmetics collection?

Well, you know how that went.

Within the humungo collection (34 pieces in total) are three different groups, each with products that are designed by a different contemporary artist (painter Richard Phillips, illustrator Maira Kalman and photographer Marilyn Minter).

Today I took a look at nine of the items, a few from each of the three sets.

Autumn Wind: Givenchy Gloss Interdit Lip Gloss

Today I have some quality “me” with the plummy shades of Givenchy’s new gloss lip glosses Interdit line.

Lilac confession: a bright, cool-toned lilac with a shimmer

Sensual Chocolate: A shimmering plum-brown

Velvet Purple: A shimmering Berry

Taboo Rose (not shown): a rosy mauve

Do not just scream fall?

On the basis of plums, Givenchy large gates with these 15 new glosses, loading ‘em up with color, bright luster and a smooth, non-sticky texture.

Givenchy also hyaluronic acid-microspheres, the in vogue in many beauty products today. She said to bind with water in the skin, in this case, produce Plümper, soft mouth with less deep wrinkles.

I do not know whether it is based more on wishful thinking or micro-sphere technology, but I think I see a subtle difference in the size of my lips when I wear this (although I do not feel a difference).

And In short — I think Interdit’s the hotness, but let me know what you think.

Taste and texture

Dry lips do not have a chance against the splendor of Interdit moisturizing formula. The stuff Drenchers lips in hydration.

There is also a faint scent lipsticky and slightly fruity taste, but neither one is strong, and the scent quickly faded.

Pricey, but comparable with Chanel / Dior

The price is $ 25 hella Bootsy, but at least it does not look or feel like a ripoff.

I have ‘em up there with Chanel and Dior Creme de Aqualumieres Glosses - the queen of the bees in my lip gloss luxury world.

Happy Saturday, Homies. How was the night?

I have worked with the chickens this morning (ba-gawk!), As this post on Zen Habits. It inspires me to try to transform myself into a morning person.

I’m a total night owl by nature and a GOAT hellavu grumpy at dawn, but thank God for caffeine, blogging and Make-up …

The colors feel smooth and appear highly pigmented on my skin, which is nice to see amidst all of the sheer makeup I’ve run into lately.

P.S. My hopes to see a movie last night were dashed when I looked up at the clock and saw 9PM staring back at me. I was playing with my camera at home, trying to figure out how to take sharper closeup pictures with it, and lost track of time.

Oh, well. We ended up skipping the movie and just went out for a quick bite instead. Did you do anything fun? I’m still dying to see 500 Days of Summer.

No. 1 Eyes Makeup

“Aubrey wore a beautiful classic strapless Dolce and Gabbana dress. Since it was simple, we wanted to play up her makeup for a gorgeous dramatic look! I started by applying mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Corset from the lash line to her crease using the mark All Over Eyeshadow Brush. Then, I used the mark Angled Contour Eyeshadow Brush to blend Corset into the crease and also smudged along her bottom lashes using the mark Eyeliner Brush. This brush helps blend all the edges for your smoky eye. Next, I applied mark On the Edge Hook Up Liquid Eyeliner in Cleo along the top lash line and then winged the outer corner like a cat eye. I also added mark Eyemarker Color on Line in Lapis to the inner rim of her eyes. To complete, I applied two coats of mark Lash Splash Hook Up Waterproof Mascara in Black.”

“I wanted Aubrey to have a very clean and fresh face. I began by applying mark Need A Shrink Pore Minimizer as a foundation primer. Attractive Summer Perfume

All of perfume I recommended is great for the summer, light and refreshing and not overpowering at all. Let’s have a look.

Although it’s been a relatively mild summer thus far in Kauai, it’s still hot and humid enough to leave me feeling sticky and less than glamorous come 3:00 p.m.

The easiest way to boost my spirits, I’ve found, is a spritz of one of my favorite summer scents. Light and easy, these four fragrances have been in constant rotation this summer (until Bree stole my bottle of Sheer Calyx, that is). A quick spray of fragrance instantly lifts my mood and makes a hot summer afternoon bearable. (Also? I smell better.)

Here are the scents that have kept me feeling fresh and pretty all summer long:

No. 1 Kenzo L’eauparKenzo eau Indigo This has been my favorite evening fragrance all summer. I have yet to even want to wear anything else. Notes of ylang ylang and sambac jasmine make this Kenzo scent slightly powdery and very special. Each morning I sniff my wrists for the lingering notes of the previous night and smile to myself.

No. 2 Degree Classic Romance I’m obsessed with clinical strength deodorant but hate how the “sporty” scent clashes with my fragrance. Now Degree has a clinical strength deodorant in the “Classic Romance” scent to match my favorite Degree Classic Romance body mist from their Fine Fragrance Collection. I can layer this citrus-y floral scent and smell delicious even as I melt under the hot sun.

No. 3 Prescriptives Sheer Calyx Like Oprah, I’m drawn to grapefruit top notes and this light, refreshing version of the original Calyx is just my speed. Exotic fruits, lush flowers and smooth woods make this an easy scent to love. (Just ask Bree!)

No. 4 Thierry Mugler Angel Sunessence If you like the original Angel, you’re going to love this summer version of the gourmand fragrance. With all the same delicious notes that made me fall in love with the original Angel (honey, vanilla, caramel—sounds like an ice cream sundae!), Sunessence is softer and lighter than her older sister.

Fashion Wind: Best colour for Lip Glosses

Exhilarating Lip Glosses areMy favorite products of the collection. They’re guava flavored and come in three flattering shades: Mango, Pink Grapefruit and Guava.

Makeup Bag intern Monica tried the Papaya Exhilarating Lipcolor and was pleasantly surprised with its shine and shimmer:

“I’ll admit I approached this lipstick with a bit of trepidation (read: fear!), as it looked like a relatively loud coral in the tube. I am relieved to share that the color is indeed coral, but also surprisingly wearable. What I was afraid would look orangey turned out to be a true, warm coral with enough pink to counteract any possible ruddiness. The consistency was excellent, offering extremely comfortable wear and soft shine and just a hint of shimmer. So pretty for summer!”

I also have been wearing the Limited-Edition Calyx Sheer Exhilaration nearly every day here in Hawaii. The fruity scent is light and refreshing, a perfect complement to the humid Hawaiian air.
